Hey, I just wanted to ask, i’ve started doing dead hangs, and after doing measly 3 sets of 15sec hold, my right shoulder slightly but just slightly hurts…should i keep doing dead hangs or do i go on active hangs?
Note: The bar that i’m hanging from is quite thick about 4cm or 1.57480315 inches and im trying to hold mostly from the fingers not the palm so could that contribute to it or what? Also i may think that i’m squeezing maybe too hard..but idk
What do you all think?

Hmmm. If your shoulder’s starting to feel off after just a few short dead hang sets, it’s smart to pause and reassess. The thick bar and finger-dominant grip definitely make it tougher on your shoulders and forearms, especially if you’re squeezing super hard. Try switching to active hangs instead—engage your lats and shoulders to give more control and stability, which might ease that discomfort. You can also lighten your grip a little and let more of the palm share the load. Ease into it and see how your shoulder reacts. No shame in backing off a bit and building up smarter.

Okay, I’ll do active hangs today, i skipped yesterday just for safety reasons, but honestly i can say my shoulder is 100% fine now and i think maybe gripping too hard was the problem, but i’ll experiment and be careful, but i mean dead hangs are supposed to work forearms and shoulder, so it could be just shoulder being worked? But oh well…
