alternative exercises/warmups#1713

I downloaded the app hoping to be able to start working out from zero but so far ive been really dissapointed how little agency it offers in what type of exercises it has me do. For example i do not have equipment to do wall pullups but i was not able to find a way to remove that movement from my program or replace it. (i know some alternatives were offered in this forum but they were too difficult for me and having to trawl thru here every time that it wants me to do pullups is extra friction)

likewise so far as part of warmup it always asks me to do jumping jacks, which are bit uncomfortable for me and make me worry about strain on my joins due to my weight, but besides fully skipping it the app doesn’t offer any alternative

i really think at the very least there should be some sort of “i dont have any equipment “ toggle that makes it so u dont get offered exercises which demand it. its very demoralizing when it happens!

I hear you. Yhe app is built around a fixed progression system, so right now it doesn’t have toggles for equipment limits or automatic exercise substitutions, and yeah, that can feel demoralizing when it keeps serving you something that doesn’t fit your situation.

You’re not wrong about wall pull-ups or jumping jacks either. An “no equipment” option or built-in alternatives would make a big difference, especially for beginners or heavier folks.

I’ll pass this feedback along to Hampton because this is exactly the kind of thing that matters if the goal is helping people start, not just those who already have ideal setups. In the meantime, you’re not doing anything wrong by skipping or replacing movements that don’t work for you. Consistency with what you can do safely matters way more than following the app perfectly anyway
