Pullups - stuck at level 2#1751

Hello!

I did 3 sets of 50 reps of Wall Pullups, advanced to level 2 (with rings). But I can’t advance with rings, I struggle for 2 months now, max 10 reps with 1st set, less with sets 2, 3. I tried putting rings higher, it does not help much. Is there something I can do to advance with rings? Help please.

Hey, Chrys here. One of the trainers at Hybrid.

If you hit 3x50 on wall pulls, your base is solid. The jump to rings is just way bigger than it looks. It’s not just harder, it’s way more unstable.

If you’re stuck at 10 on set one and it drops after that, that’s normal. Don’t chase high reps right now. Instead, lower the reps and make them cleaner. Think 3–5 sets of 5 to 8 reps with perfect form. Slow control, slight pause at the top, full stretch at the bottom.

You can also mix them. First set on rings, next sets back to wall pulls or a slightly easier ring angle. That builds strength without frying you.
Progression doesn’t have to mean more reps. It can mean better control, better body angle, or less rest.
