I am 43, played professional volleyball until 27.
I could never do full squats not even as a kid.
Should I just do squats as low as I can without raising my heels?
I just had this issue. I’m looking into improving strength and mobility of my hip flexors, plus leg stretching to fix my heels

Hey. This is Chrys, one of the trainers at Hybrid.
Yeah, honestly that’s exactly what I’d do. Squat as low as you comfortably can while keeping your heels down and staying controlled.
Not everybody is built to hit a super deep squat naturally. Ankle mobility, hip structure, and even your proportions can all affect how deep you go.
You can work on mobility over time, but I wouldn’t force depth just for the sake of saying you did a full squat. If your current range feels good and you’re getting stronger there, that’s still solid progress anyway
