Can't even do the basic glute bridges#730

So, yeah, like the title says I can’t do the glute bridges. I’m looking for alternatives to do for the WotD as a replacement, but ideally that will allow me to progress to being able to do them. Thank you in advance.

Hey there :)

There are a couple of things you can try to do:

  • Partials, so just doing a bit of the motion if you struggle to do the full one
  • Isometrics, particularly holding the top position; if that’s feasible
  • Alternative exercises such as a superman or a reverse hyperextension with tucked legs

If none of those options really work for you for whichever reason; maybe you can just build up the necessarily glute and leg strength via the squat progressions and forego the bridge for the time being - if they are possible for you!

Wall sits with only very slightly bent legs may also help a bit, as well as even potentially band assisted glute bridges (band under your hips, pulling you up)

That’s all I can really think of at the moment, but if you have any further input then I’ll see what I can do!

Thanks, I just tried alternating reverse hyperextension and it worked out well!
